Kenntec was founded by Hamish Kennedy, former Compac Sorting Equipment founder, and his son Finn in 2017. Kenntec is the next step in their journey to revolutionise the post-harvest fruit packing industry.
Leaning into their expert knowledge of fruit sorting machines and taking advantage of the latest technological advancements, they have built a team of specialist engineers who have well over 100 years of combined experience in mechanical, electrical and software engineering.
The team are constantly working hard to develop a portfolio of cutting edge fruit packing and sorting products to deliver world leading solutions to packhouses at scale.

Finn Kennedy | Chief Executive Officer
Kenntec’s co-founder and CEO, Finn Kennedy, lives and breathes innovation, automation and the fruit sorting industry.
Finn grew up around fruit sorting machines, with his first hands-on experience coming from helping his dad, Hamish, build Compac Sorting Equipment Sizers as a toddler.
Now with well over a decade of experience in manufacturing and automation, Finn leads Kenntec in the development of cutting-edge automated packing solutions that help solve the problems faced by the post-harvest industry.
Hamish Kennedy | Chairman
Kenntec’s co-founder and Chairman, Hamish Kennedy, cuts an imposing figure in the post-harvest fruit sorting world. Hamish started Compac Sorting Equipment from his parents shed in 1983 and spent the next 33 years building the company into the world’s leading fruit sorter technology provider.
He pioneered the development of new fruit sorting technology and software that revolutionised packhouse automation and changed the face of fruit sorting forever. At Kenntec, Hamish is now focused on further improving and optimising the post-harvest industry.
